We looked at a recent case in which a patient had to lose a non-restorable tooth. Click here for a quick review. This is a similar case. The implant had been previously placed and was now ready to restore, by making a customized post and crown. We’re taking a photo to match the shade of the other teeth, but you can see the ‘healing cap’ that was placed by the surgeon.

Along with Windows Vista, Microsoft is launching the release of Office 07.  Many of us use some of the features of Office including Word, Excel and others.  As an alternative, Google has its’ own version.  Google’s are all easily sent through e-mail and can be worked online with someone else.  Does Microsoft have something to worry about??  Try it here.

Although this doesn’t really apply to a dental office, I thought I’d post about this because it will affect almost all of us. As you know, Microsoft is making a HUGE push to get everyone over to their new Vista software. Here’s a wonderful site that talks about Family Discounts for Vista upgrades. Many people are running more than one computer at home, and likely are using Windows XP. Read about buying multiple copies of Vista….it could save you some money!

This would NEVER have worked without the combined efforts of the orthodontist, the periodontist (gum specialist), and the restorative dentist. The patient and her mother were both thrilled with the end result!

Here’s the final results after the laterals (the side teeth) were finished.

These teeth will eventually have porcelain veneers, but the bonding should hold the teeth in the correct position for many years.

Here’s the same side tooth (the lateral) after it had some bonding added to it.

Notice the additional width, and how the small gap that was left at the tip or edge of this tooth has been closed.

To finish things off we thought we’d increase the width of the lateral incisors, too (they’re right next to the middle teeth).

After she completed the final phase with the orthodontist, she returned to me like this:

The orthodontist closed the gap, and these teeth are now in the correct position! But let’s look closer at the teeth on either side of these. What about their size?

We placed bonded restorations on her two front teeth and sent her back to the orthodontist to close the spaces. Since the teeth were the ideal size after being bonded he simply had to close the gap.
