So again, the question begs to be asked….what would you want done with YOUR front tooth if it looked like this one. It was not sensitive to hot or cold and was really just a cosmetic concern for the patient. But the proposed solution by another dentist (a porcelain crown) seemed rather extreme, so she left the tooth in this condition for weeks.

There are times that bonding doesn’t work, or the patient was told it wouldn’t work. Here’s a tooth that was bonded MANY years ago and the repair fell off. After trying a few more times the dentist just gave up and told the patient it ‘wouldn’t work’ for him. He’s lived with this crack for years now always assuming that it was ‘hopeless’.

As I\’ve written before, there are times where a little conservative work can make a huge change in someone\’s appearance, and the patient is able to avoid a more invasive procedure. Here\’s another great example. This lovely lady (a former assistant of mine) was tired of looking at her \’pointy\’ and \’ugly\’ eye teeth (the canines) and wanted them either veneered or crowned. Here\’s a look:

Here is a tooth that had a large cavity and big silver filling. You can see the dark shadow of the filling through tooth. Because there was so little healthy tooth structure remaining, we decided to place a porcelain crown.

There was also a new room of dental equipment that was put in during the renovations. Everyone has loved the new furnishings!

A little while ago I posted some pretty scary photos of my office as it was being renovated, including this one:

This is a case that I first talked about here. Now, the implant has been placed and it’s time to put the post and crown in.

We’ve covered this before, but it happens SO often that I still need to post about it. Many teeth can APPEAR to be fine, but they actually have cavities hiding inside. Here’s a normal-looking tooth:

Look at this tooth. It’s a mess. And it’s just downright ugly.

And here’s the beautiful portrait photo of the patient after having completed her work. She’s SO excited about her new teeth….and so are we!!
